Pinguicula 'Riva' is a beautiful cultivar created and registered by Mark Rubnitz in honor of his mother, Riva Rubnitz. Germinated in late 2013 and officially registered in 2018, this complex hybrid appears to be a cross between (Pinguicula agnata "scented flower" x P. gigantea) x (P. gigantea x P. emarginata).
One of its most striking features is the flower: a soft white bloom with a bright yellow center surrounded by a vivid purple ring. The foliage shifts from pale green to burgundy under intense light, making it a standout in any collection.

Its smooth, sticky leaves produce glistening droplets through specialized glands that catch and digest insects. As prey struggles, additional glands activate, eventually leaving only the exoskeleton behind. Easy to grow and reliable in performance, P. agnata is a top choice for both beginners and experienced carnivorous plant enthusiasts.
